Biography

蓮池創太郎（はすいけ そうたろう）。

1998年熊本県天草市生まれ。4歳でピアノを始める。東京大学法学部卒。

大学在学中第21回ショパン国際ピアノコンクール in ASIAアジア大会にて銅賞を受賞。第22回日本クラシック音楽コンクールピアノ部門全国大会第2位。第43回熊日学生音楽コンクールにて最優秀賞並びに熊本県知事賞受賞。その他受賞は多数。

作曲も手掛け、2020年には自作品によるソロアルバム『Moderato』をリリース。その他楽曲提供も行なっている。

大学卒業後、セロニアス・モンクやジョン・コルトレーンに強い衝撃を受けジャズの演奏を始める。現在は日々研鑽を積み自己の表現を追求しながら、自己のグループを中心に様々なグループで都内ジャズクラブに出演している。その他ポップスやロックバンドのレコーディングなども行うなど幅広く活動をしている。

Born in 1998 in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture, Sotaro Hasuike began studying piano at the age of four. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo.

He has received numerous distinctions, including the Bronze Medal at the 21st Chopin International Piano Competition in Asia, Second Prize at the 22nd Japan Classical Music Competition (National Finals, Piano Division), and both the First Prize and the Governor of Kumamoto Award at the 43rd Kumamoto Nichinichi Student Music Competition, among others.

In addition to performance, he is also active as a composer. In 2020, he released his solo album Moderato, featuring his own works, and has since provided compositions for various artists.

Following his graduation, profoundly influenced by Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane, he devoted himself to jazz performance. He now appears regularly at leading jazz venues in Tokyo, both with his own ensemble and as a guest in a variety of groups, while continually pursuing the development of his personal artistic voice. His activities further extend to recording projects in the fields of pop and rock, demonstrating a versatility that transcends genre boundaries.
